H. Les Brown is an author, philosopher, and former life coach who is retired from active ministry. His debut literary fiction series explores faith, identity, and love in the modern Catholic Church.

Background

He holds MAs in both philosophy and theology and years of service in the ministry, industry, data processing, life coaching, project management, and even a stint (as a civilian) at Headquarters Marine Corps.

Writing

The author has written two articles on Canon Law for Studia Canonica and was a contributor to the Worldwide Coaching Federation online magazine. In addition, he self-published The Frazzled Entrepreneur’s Guide to Having it All, a self-help book for over-extended entrepreneurs. He publishes weekly Homilies in Fides Quaerens Intellectum (an online publication through media.com).

Les writes regularly on Substack, where he shares lessons from his writing journey, character backstories from the We Are Not Saints series, and behind-the-scenes updates on his upcoming novel, Sycamore Boy (coming 2026).

Personal Life

He enjoys desert hiking, working out, the creative arts, and has a passion for languages. He’s up before dawn to meditate and celebrate liturgy. Les lives with Craig Gibson, his husband of twenty-five years, in a restored mid-century modern home in Palm Springs, California.

The Books

Les has been active in publishing LGBTQ-themed literary fiction books. His four novels in the We Are Not Saints series focus on men of faith who happen to be gay, facing desperate life issues. The books, though very different in plot and style, are parallel stories that often share characters. His upcoming book, Sycamore Boy, while not part of the series, continues the We Are Not Saints universe. Explore the series in the bookstore or sign up for updates on future releases.
